Friends of the ORU make a difference by becoming votary authors, contributing the gift of their artistic talent, helping with promotion, keeping up Lynda's morale, being fans and just generally taking part. Not listed here, but naturally hugely important, are publishers Brian Hades and Jennifer DiMarco, webmaster David Lott and most of all Alison Sinclair. The friends listed below are those engaged with the Okal Rel Universe in some direct and active way. The ORU is naturally vastly grateful, as well, to each and every reader and especially those kind enough to count themselves fans.
| Cris DiMarco | Cris DiMarco is senior editor of Windstorm Creative and an accomplished author of fiction, science fiction and short stories, as well as a widely published photographer and essayist. Cris has earned much acclaim for her unique approach to editing which blends a respect for the author's voice with an uncanny understanding of a reader's needs. She has been with Windstorm since 1994 and worked with Lynda on the first publications in the Okal Rel Universe for Windstorm's Fandom line.. | |
| Patricia Crawford | Votary author for the anthology writing about a woman, orphaned as a child, making her way on Gelion. | |
| Mica Currie | A programmer and friend of Lynda's acquaintance, who was sys op at her lab for many years, wore the T-shirt and did a review. | |
| Amanda DaSilva | Amanda is a votary author working on a story for the anthology that helps explain why at least one branch of the Silver Demish wound up respecting the deal D'Ander cut with Perry D'Aur rather than sending in the fleet. | |
| Jennifer Lott | Lynda's daughter and a talented singer, who set two of Amel's poems to music for the website and is always encouraging when the going gets rough. | |
| Joyce Greenwood | Lynda's cousin, a retired army officer, avid reader, recorder of family memoirs and daughter of Mary, who was the writer among the siblings of Lynda's father. Joyce is greatly supportive, in general, of authorship in the family and of the ORU enterprise in particular. | |
| Jennifer Hyndman | Jennifer's beautiful sample of Dem'Vrellish braid, done as a strip of lace without repeating patterns in the centre, is a joy to show off to people. She also let Lynda pick her brains with regard to dancer training for a work in progress. Jennifer and her husband David Casperson make a difference, as well, simply by being interested. | |
| David Juniper | Web design student assistant to Lynda way back before the Throne Price, whose interest was a big boost. David re-cast Lynda's "map of the reaches" in the presentable form now featured on the web site. | |
| Virginia O'Dine | Design and promotion freelancer who is also a co-editor of the guide and anthology, and working on the sequel to the "Lorel Experiment" as a votary author. | |
| Kathy Plett | A long time author booster and personal friend of Lynda's who made the Rustycon edition of Mekan'stan possible and continues to help as a patron, friend and librarian with an interest in the ORU. | |
| John Preet | Met at Con-Version in 2004. Lynda sent over an hour in the consuite talking with John and was moved by his prediction that the ORU would be a big hit. John volunteered, when asked, to contribute to that end by giving Lynda feedback on the martial aspects of works in progress, both as an ex-army guy and a martial arts instructor. | |
| Janice Shoults | Janice is a constant, warm and encouraging presence at Edge, and a regular e-mail correspondent in connection with every author's greatest challenge--getting the message out. Thank you for your unflagging support for the Okal Rel Universe saga. | |
| David Quast | A writer and actor with an interest in exploring the Fifth Civil War period with stories. | |
| Edel Toner-Rogala | Personal friend of Lynda's family, and public library director, who agreed to do the interviews for the press kits for Kath and Mekan'stan. | |
| Ann M. Stickel |
A writer, reviewer and artist, doing reviews of Okal Rel Universe works.. |
|
| Paul Strickland | Paul has been supportive in many ways, great and small, ever since Lynda began doing readings from Throne Price in 2002. | |
| Sarah Trick | Sarah is the fan who taught Lynda to love the idea of fans. She is also working with Lynda and Virginia on the Guide to the Okal Rel Universe and is mistress of the ORU fan discussion board. | |
| Adam Volk | Edge editor in 2004 and votary author working on a story for the anthology called Redemption, set just prior to the Fifth Civil War. | |
| Holly Williams | Lynda's sister, who helped out with French/English translation in connection with the Throne Price cover (Sandrine Gestin, the artist, lived in Paris, France) and has always helped to spread the word. | |
| Monica Williams | Lynda's mother, who paid for T-shirts out of motherly love even though the books weren't her cup of tea. | |
| Elizabeth Woods | A PG teacher with a passion for creative writing and a founding member of NorSpec, Lynda's sci fi writers group. Elizabeth is a votary author working on stories about a Demish woman named Minerva, who lived in the Fifth Civil War period. She has also had Lynda in to speak with her classes about writing and hosted a "reading by readers". | |
| Yukari Yamamoto | The artist who did the anime art for the Kath and Mekan'stan covers, and helped with the organization of the first "Reading by Readers" at the Books & Co. launch of Throne Price in 2003. |
