Lynda reads up on head injury in "Body
Trauma" for Amel's symptoms, waking up, in draft of Mekan'stan
(Ann and Amel story), April 2001. Problem is that highborns shouldn't
be as vulnerable, since designed for fighting/flying in potentially
high g, sudden change of vector (speed/direction) situations. Esp. Vrellish.
Should be part of highborn syndrome.
On phone with Alison next day. Alison dubious about virtues of greater
connective tissue in highborn brains since it would reduce neural denisity.
Thicker, more shock absorbant layer around the brain might do the trick.
May 1, 2001 Found a neat term, hunting the web.
g-loc - g-induced loss of consciousness. Pilot blackouts
caused by excessive g or by too-rapid onset of g-forces. Experienced
mostly by pilots of high-performance military jets and competition
aerobatic aircraft, has led to fatal crashes. (from Pilot
magazine's A to Z of Aviation Jargon)
Not about "sloshing" of course. I believe it's failure
of the blood to get to the brain that causes g-loc. Hence Horth's
super powered heart. Sort of view Horth as a human "Phar Lap",
even for a Sevolite highborn. :-)
