Jennifer Lott in December 2009 issue of Neo-Opsis

My daughter Jennifer Lott was home for the holidays and thrilled to find our subscription copy of the December 2009 edition of Neo-Opsis on our dining room table with her name listed on the cover along with the other authors. Jennifer's story about role-playing D&D characters is her first professional sale to make it into print.

I was also warmed and encourgaed by Stephanie Ann Johanson's review of Part 5: Far Arena in this edition of Neo-Opsis. Stephanie says "Far Arena is an excellent addition to the stories in the Okal Rel Saga. Characters seem changed in ways I didn't anticipate, and perhaps I didn't truly agree with the changes, but when I got to the end of the novel I was only disappointed that I now had to wait for the next book before I could continue my exploration of the Okal Rel universe."

Naturally curious about what she didn't agree with and how she'll respond to further developments in Part 6: Avim's Oath, due out from Edge in April 2010.

Holly Altmeyer as Vretla Vrel and Tegan Lott as Samanda O'Pearl in Okal Rel Universe skit directed by Jennifer Lott and performed at Bridges Festival of the arts Jun 11, 2009 Jennifer Lott stage-managed and rehearsed actors Holly Altmeyer, Mel Farrow and Tegan Lott in a skit performed at the Bridges Festival June 11, 2009, at the University of Northern B.C. Shown here are Holly Altmeyer as Vretla Vrel and Tegan Lott as Samanda O'Pearl at the point where I have been hauled up from the audience by Amel (played by Mel Farrow) to break up the argument inspired by their exposure to Saturday morning readings of Part 6: Avim's Oath, which is currently in-press. I have more lovely pictures and memories to share from the Bridges Festival June 11-13, 2009 at the University of Northern B.C. I am also behind on SF Creatives and Saturday readings pictures. But I will be chugging away mornings again now Bridges is over and promise to share the visuals! Including the cover of Part 5: Far Arena which made it to be shown off at Bridges. Many thanks, Brian and Justyn! Now I am going to reply to one anthology author before I head off to the day job. :-)

Jennifer Lott reading at Lott family gathering 2009
Hard to believe it is over a month, now, since we had my eldest daughter and fellow writer Jennifer home with us for a week after Xmas. David took this picture of her 'in her element' as he called it, as she read off her laptop to us, her siblings and the good friends who gathered to hear the next installment of her Drescopatia saga. Jennifer blogs at: Rocketdust and Glorious Mud.

Comment from Shannon Rae via Jennifer Lott

> I saw Pretenders came out!  The bit that's up online is very good.
> Poor Amel.  (I guess a large portion of Okal Rel can be summed up
> as "Poor Amel" - haha.)  The Golden Demish prince  speaking with
> great emotion about bashing people's heads in is priceless.  I'll
> get the book at Christmas.

Shades of Mel's elevator speech! But I have promised Amel he'll "man up" (as Hal Friesen put it) in the second half of the series. Just a bit! And have a few good days. :-)
