New look coming for the website
Artist Michelle Milburn is working on a new look for the ORU website. Webmaster David Lott will be rebuilding the site, slowly, based on her design. Michelle is a BFA student at the University of Northern B.C. Brian Hades of Edge has also approved use of her art for some Okal Rel Legacies novellas which we hope to have up on covers by the end of the summer. Saturday Morning Reading May 9, 2009
Saturday morning reading at the Lott home. David captured this time! He's working ten days straight sometimes lately, and long hours, so we were especially pleased to have him May 9, 2009. Seen here in his favorite pose, surrounded by young women: Krysia on his right and Catherine on his left. Catherine is working her way through Part 4: Throne Price for the first time. I must go check out her comments to me in private chat on facebook. Amel appreciates her protective instincts toward him ... although he's embarrassed his really bad days are getting to be so public. :-) A slice of Angela is visible to the right. She's re-reading Part 1: The Courtesan Prince. Honey the cat failed to pose very attractively behind them, on the couch. Also in attendance were Holly, who read the next installment in Artemis Fowl where a fairy swat squad unwisely goes up against Fowl castle in a flubbed attempt to rescue her namesake, LEP officer Holly Short; and Tegan who was in her pajamas. The girls made breakfast this time as a Mother's Day treat for me. Interesting crep-cakes Ang. :-) Sort of crepes, sort of pancakes. Holly made the whipped cream as usual. Everyone helped. I read the penultimate chapter of Part 6: Avim's Oath. Many thanks to all for the squeals of delight over Oleander's dreadful proposal and Luthan's bid for getting educated by a hobbling Amel, for Angie's spontaneous squeal: "This is the best book yet!" and to Krysia for wanting to finish it off right now! Looking forward to delivering the final chapter next Saturday after my visit to Terrace. Thanks to Angie taking over the kitchen this morning, I also got good licks in on Part 7: Healer's Sword. Working on layout of Orphanage
Working on the layout of the Gold and Silver Orphanage established by Luthan and Amel between Part 3: Pretenders and Part 4: Throne Price of the Okal Rel saga, and featuring as a setting for the first time in Part 6: Avim's Oath. David Lott did the layout and scaling in Open Office. I've puttered at some shading in Photoshop. Not quite ready to sign off on it, but when we do I'll put it in the gallery on the main ORU website. Saturday Morning Reading Last Week
Just love this Saturday morning picture of my husband David Lott and our middle daughter Angela with the cat, Honey, in the background. Every Saturday morning we hold a crepe breakfast at our house for the family and any friends who drop by, followed by a reading. I read from what I'm working on. Guests read from their own work, or from favorite books. (Angie's friend Holly is currently regaling us with the adventures of Artemis Fowl.) It charges my rel-batteries for another busy week. :-) Labels: Angela Lott, David Lott, reading Friday, March 13, 2009
Started working on a facebook page yesterday. Want to consolidate the 'gathering' function online. Come sign up! The URL is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lynda-Williams/69101973948. David honored at "Healthier You" Awards
David Lott, my husband and web master, was honored by a nomination in the "Youth Initiative of the Year" category for the Northern BC "A Healthier You" Awards, Nov 7 2008 at the Civic Centre. That's my seat beside him, empty, because I'm taking the picture. David was nominated along with Sandra Jandric and DP Todd Secondary School for their committee work in introducing healthier snacks on school premises. Labels: David Lott Sunday, August 24, 2008
Pleased to have a half-page spread in the program for Conversion 24. It wasn't a large turn out this year but we had good people-times at the bar and it was awesome to see the growing display of ORU books at the Edge table in the dealer's room. It was fun to have Tegan and Mel there, too. They even dressed up for the ORU event and joined us in the bar - for Shirly Temples in their case. Justyn Perry had out the first Absolute XPress catalog which includes two of the ORU anthologies, thus far, and three of my novellas. Making progress with Craig Bowlsby's novella and the third anthology. See David's choices of all the pictures we took on my Con's Attended Page for ConVersion 24. Much thanks to teacher Rita McInnis-Ryan, David Lott, student Nicole and other volunteers who helped connect students at D.P. Todd Secondary School with the Okal Rel Universe Thursday, April 24, 2008. David Lott helped me set up, modeled the Ann T-Shirt and put up a page for the April 24 2008 Visit to DP Todd. We had a reading by Nicole (center in picture) and some mock duels as well as slide shows, questions and a book giveaway to students interested in doing art, skits, dress up or otherwise strutting their own interpretations of the ORU for the launch of Book #3, Pretenders, in September at the Prince George Public Library.
