Far Arena Feedback - Woods
Feedback from Elizabeth Woods on Part 5: Far Arena > I am so loving Far Arena! I am at the part where they have just > arrived on Rire. You never fail to completely enrapture me. I am > so glad tomorrow starts my summer - I can sit and read! Elizabeth have volunteered to help my exterminate typos in Part 6: Avim's Oath by giving it a read-through. Jennifer Lott has also helped out on this front, and editor Richard Janzen will be doing the copy-edit this summer. Not certain of the release date yet, but hoping for winter 2010. Far Arena appears on the left in this slide from the Edge Spring launch. For the rest of the side show, including shots of some of our favorite people - Brian Hades, Justyn Perry, Robert Sawyer, Randy McCharles and Susan Forrest - see today's homepage at Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing. Just got an exciting sneak preview of Steph St. Laurent's video of ORU event at Bridges, as well, which David Lott will be helping me get up on the blog here some post soon! The look of the cover for Part 5: Far Arena has changed. It is now brighter with a yellow-tinge to the inner ring the brings out more of the detail. My daughter Angela was shocked. She'd fallen for the original art and the portrayal of Erien against blue rather than yellow. We had that version on our fridge door for months. I'm sure the new look will grow on me. Hoping to have books in hand by Bridges Festival June 11, but if not I'm confident they will be available for a launch in Prince George later this summer. Haven't booked that date yet. Part 5: Far Arena on the horizon
Reviewed the front matter for Part 5: Far Arena tonight and gave Brian the okay. Guessing this means it will be headed for the printer any day now. He sent it to me last Wednesday but I've been on a writing bender and away from my mail. :-( Labels: Far Arena Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Far Arena part of Jun 13 Launch in Calgary
Hope and expect Part 5: Far Arena will be among the books launched at Edge's swanky do in Calgary, Jun 13, 2009. Maybe even print versions of the Absolute XPress titles in the Okal Rel Legacies imprint? It will be hard typing with crossed fingers but I'll gonna try. :-) Contact Justyn Perry (justyn@hadespublications.com) for more information about the launch event. The very cool Jessica Strider of the World's Biggest Bookstore in Toronto has put out her list of books for May 2009 ... and Part 5: Far Arena is included in the list of Trade Paperbacks. Also exciting to see Alison's new novel, Darkborn in the list. Darkborn is entirely unrelated to Okal Rel. It's the first of her new fantasy series. Part 5: Far Arena slated for Spring Release
Monday, December 01, 2008
The cover of Part 5: Far Arena is up on a catalog page at Edge! I love how artist Lynn Perkins has depicted Erien, the 'Throne Price' of Part 4, in the cover art. Lynn actually reads the books! And enjoys the series. I have high hopes of seeing her work on Part 6, as well. About 80,000 words into Part 6 and hoping to finish over the Xmas break. News on Part 5 and 6
News from editor Richard Janzen, on Part 5: Far Arena progress. Meanwhile, I am working on first draft of Part 6: Avim's Oath, which I share just a bit of the rough-draft-in-progress from, below, as a GIF. It's sooo hard to wait until the book's out to get the fun of imagining people reading bits! Bad, bad leaky author. Labels: Avim's Oath, Far Arena, Richard Janzen Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Artist LW Perkins is working on cover art for Far Arena, part 5 of the ORU saga. We are corresponding about possible subject matter. Labels: art, Far Arena, LW Perkins |
